Introduction
People see my social media posts and often ask how I created something. Answer: I have tools. I use several tools daily to create content for my business and my client’s businesses. Truthfully, I’m not that brilliant and I don’t consider myself a tech guru either. But I have learned to master a few simple apps that help me generate content on a regular basis. And you can too!
You already know that we live in a highly competitive digital world, so the days of subpar content that looks more like it was created on your basement copy machine are over. So if you want to play the game, you have to come to the field with the equipment needed to score a touchdown. Lucky for you and me there are numerous choices in the apps arena that can help you create professional-looking content without the need for expensive software or hiring a graphic designer.
In this blog post, I’ll explore four of my go-to ones that I use daily and how they work. But keep in mind, that it’s important to find the ones that suit your requirements and needs.
Whether you are a seasoned content creator or just starting out, these apps offer a range of features and tools to suit your needs. From graphic design to video editing to AI-powered chatbots, there is something for everyone.
So, let's dive into each of these apps and see how they can help you boost your business's online presence and engage with your audience.

Graphic Design Program
Pricing: Free (with limited access)
Canva Pro $14.99/month
Canva Teams $100/year per team member.
As God is my witness, I’d rather cancel Netflix before cancelling Canva. I literally use it daily for posts, reels, videos, brochures, and so much more! And it’s no wonder because the platform has 170 million worldwide users making it one of the most popular graphic design tools on the planet. And, trust me, if you run a small business and cannot afford to hire a graphic designer – then Canva can save you thousands with its user-friendly tools that allow you to design for pennies on the dollar.
I won’t belabor the point here because I’ve already put together a FREE Canva downloadable guide for you. Inside you'll discover numerous designs you can create with Canva from brochures to logos, business cards and more, to turn you into a graphic designing genius!
Video Editing Program
Pricing: Basic level is free.
Paid version is $7.99/month
Though you can create good looking videos in Canva, there are certain options it does not allow you to fine tune, which is where CapCut comes in. This app was designed for all the video editor wannabees (like me). You upload the video of your choice and you can create stunning and engaging video content to wow your audience.
One of the best features of Capcut is its user-friendly interface. I’m no tech guru and I had it down quite well in a couple days. The app is designed for beginners and experienced video editors alike, with an intuitive interface that makes editing a breeze. You can easily drag and drop clips, adjust settings, and preview your edits in real-time.
The app also includes numerous templates that can be searched by niche or subject. Select the template of choice, upload your video and edit accordingly. Though the app was designed to be used on a phone, a desktop version is available.
Some of the features include:
Trim videos
Add music
Add voice auto captions
Video special effects
Create tutorials
Vlogs
Merge clips
Teleprompter

One of my personally favorite Capcut features is the teleprompter. Yes, you can deliver long bits of dialogue with all the smoothness of a news anchor. Cut/paste or type in your script and you can even set the speed. Then read your piece while looking into the camera. However, if you want to use this feature, you'll need to upgrade to the $7.99 per month.
AI Writing Platform
Cost: Jounce is currently free and unlimited to use in its private beta phase
Think of Jounce as Chat GPT’s little known stepsister. Jounce is an AI-powered document creator and editor. But unlike ChatGPT, you don’t have to know which prompts to use to generate content. Jounce provides a variety of readymade templates in all the most popular writing categories to make writing copy a breeze.
Popular templates offered include:
Blog outline or post
Company bio
Creative story
eBook outline
Social media posts
Explain it to a child
Google by business (product description)
SEO
Strategy
Website copy
Emails
Advertisements
And these are only a few of the categories offered to jumpstart written copy for engaging content. After it generates the results, simply go back in and ask it to rewrite the text more formal, or friendly or funny, whatever you choose! I’ve been using it now for over a year and to date, it’s still free of charge.
Content Creation Platform
Price: Free
Advanced Features $20/month
OpenAI owns Chat GPT, considered the mother of AI-generated content, and it has certainly gotten the most exposure. It is owned by a Mod Squad of venture capitalists that include Elon Musk, Ilya Sutskever, Wojciech Zaremba, Greg Brockman, and Sam Altman.
As such, it is a powerful tool to help you generate engaging and personalized content for your business. And frankly, it’s nearly limitless in its capability. You can automate content creation, improve response times, and provide personalized interactions that resonate with your audience. But if you want to create images you will have to upgrade to the paid version.
The ChatGPT framework in highly technical and you can deep dive its multiplicity of levels in a Zapier titled “How Does ChatGPT Work?” Personally, I have only just begun to use the platform in the last year, and to date, mostly for titles, SEO keywords, blog, email, and article prompts. But such prompts are like drops in an ocean of the platform’s true capabilities. However, it has helped me to lose the “blank page” mindset that often plagues creatives in an informationally glutted age. I simply type in vague ideas and it will flesh them out.
Conclusion
Disclaimer: My advice is never to publish AI generated content as-is. Since AI platforms pull their source materials by scouring previously published online content, there is the possibility of plagiarism. And the truth is, if you are plagiarizing content, that’s fraud! Instead, consider AI as a helpful resource to get you get going - then go in and make it sound and feel like your brand personality.
I prefer to see them as an "invisible team member" to help brainstorm ideas and kickstart content, thus reducing the overall time spent. For instance my blog posts used to take a full day to gather the information, type, rewrite and find images. Using AI, that time has been reduced to about 4 hours.
But one thing is for sure; if you want to create consistent quality content, find yourself running out of ideas, or feel like you are on a content creation hamster wheel? Perhaps this is the time to invest in learning on of these timesaving and money saving tools to help you take your content to the next level!
